The Youth Group of Basic United Methodist Church is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the mission and ministries of Casa de Amistad. It is called “A Night in the Box – 24 hours of hunger and homelessness”. I know – you’re asking, “Where’s the fun part?” Bear with us and let us explain.
We will be taking pledges for spending 24 hours on the lawn of Basic UMC in Waynesboro. We will sleep in large boxes and other makeshift housing and take part in a 24 hour fast to call attention to the struggles of the homeless and financially-stressed families in our area.
Throughout the day there will be games and a box decoration contest. The public will be invited to stroll through our village and see young people engaged in Christian action. This event will begin on Saturday, June 4, at 9am and end at 9 am the next morning. We will then be treated to delicious food to break our fast and are invited to the Worship Service at Basic to share our experiences. Please email me at ccgoat@hotmail.com if anyone is interested in going.

Please check your emails, church bulletin, or the bulletin board in the downstairs hallway for updates for the youth.

The United Methodist Church is a part of the universal church, as we confess in the Apostle's Creed. In the church, Jesus Christ is proclaimed and professed as Lord and Savior. All people may attend worship services, participate in programs, receive the sacraments and become members.
