TUMC’s youth team!!!

The youth group had loads of fun at relay for life! We met, set up tents, and visited all the concessions. After the honorable survivor walk, we all started to walk too. We invited other friends to join us along the way, and walked ’till our feet were sore (with the exception of a few breaks here and then).

A touching moment was when the luminaries were lit and Announcers read off all of the names of those printed on the luminaries. Catherine, Clay, Henry, Liam (friend to TUMC) and I sat in a vigil and listened.

Some youth left, and the remaining stayed the entire frigid night. We woke up hours later with YMCA wake up music, and ate breakfast. Then it was time to go, and we packed the tents back up, and left. Great job, guys.

Youth Sunday

Youth Sunday was a success! For all the movies, please go to Norman’s blog, all will be posted there. I want to thank Courtney for coming early with Jackson and me, and organizing the service. We couldn’t have done it without you! Ashlynne did an amazing job playing the song, The Stand. THe prelude and the children’s choir were an excellent touch on the entire service- it made it shine. We should all applaud Ian and Peter, our acolytes. They did a good job.

The middle school youth has started a reading circle, and is reading the book, Heaven Is For Real. It is about a small boy who visited heaven during an operation and came back. Next week, I might have some discussion videos to share.

Palm Sunday Parade

The annual community Palm Sunday Parade will be held on Sunday morning, April 17th, 9:30 a.m. at Hopkins Green.The members of all the downtown churches are invited to gather for a prayer and Bible reading, and then walk through the streets of Lexington ―dropping off the participants as the parade goes by the different churches.

There will be no Sunday School at Trinity on this day. Please be at Hopkins Green by 9:15 am to line up for the parade which begins at 9:30.

Refreshments will be served in the fellowship hall afterwards.

Renowned Biblical Scholar Marcus Borg

Renowned biblical scholar Marcus Borg will be in Lexington on March 25 and 26. On Sunday March 25 he will preach at the 11:00 a.m. service at Lexington Presbyterian. He will then provide two lectures, one at 4:00 p.m. and the other 7:00p.m. The community is encouraged to attend this free event.

Monday evening March 26 at 7:30 p.m. he will speak at Lee Chapel.

Join Team TUMC in the Relay for Life

Join the team! trinity will host Team TUMC at Relay for Life this year. The annual event will be held at RCHS on May 11 and 12. You can join us in person or in spirit when you register on line at www. relayforlife.org/rockbridge. We will also have paper copies to use for team registration in the fellowship hall. Registration fee is $10.00 per person.

Holy Communion in April

Holy Communion in April will be offered on Munday Thursday, April 5, and Easter, April 8. It will not be offered on the first Sunday April 1, which is Palm Sunday.

DISTRICT UMW PRAYER BREAKFAST

District UMW Prayer Breakfast: Our Lenten Breakfast will again be held at two of the district churches. the date is March 24 with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. and breakfast served at 9:00a.m. Our program will be Call to Prayer & Self-Denial with the offering going to that mission work. We will be meeting in Hot Springs at Ashwood UMC. Our own Dot Ravenhorst will give the address, Prayers in the Hymns. We will also be meeting at Greenville UMC at the same time with speaker Dana Wade whose address will be A Time for Change. Cost of the breakfast is $6.00. For reservations and directions, please contact Helen Hopkins at 463-6051 or sign-up in the Narthex or on the church bulletin board by the kitchen.
